In this edition of our Meet the Team series at Ergro, we’re turning the spotlight on Themba Fuzani, one of the newest members of our team.
Themba joined us as a Contract Administrator a few months ago and has hit the ground running, quickly becoming a valued part of the team. With him still finding his feet in the role, this feature is a great chance to check in on how things are going, hear about his background in the industry, and discover what he gets up to when he’s not at work.
🔸 Can you tell us a little about your career journey and how you came to join Ergro?
“I began my career in sales before moving into consulting. I then had the opportunity to work in the public sector, which was a really interesting experience. Before joining Ergro, I was involved in the telecommunications space, focusing on monitoring and evaluation.”
🔸 What attracted you to both your role and Ergro as an organisation?
“What first attracted me to Ergro was how technologically advanced the business appeared to be. Seeing that they had moved much of their fleet to electric vehicles really impressed me. Beyond that, the company’s work culture and focus on empowering people stood out.
The role also felt like a great fit because administration is something I enjoy and feel well suited to. The industry was also new to me, which made me excited to learn more and understand how its administrative functions work.”
🔸 As one of our South Africa based support team, how have you found the experience of working with Ergro?
“It has been a really positive experience. Being introduced to Ergro’s work culture and completing short courses to get work-ready was new for me, and it showed how much the business values employee development.
The team has been very supportive. We have weekly meetings, stay connected through Teams, and help is always available whenever it’s needed.”
🔸 What does a typical day look like in your role?
“A typical day involves managing and responding to emails from both clients and contractors, liaising with them to arrange PPM bookings, and keeping accurate records of job card reports for completed PPMs so they are accessible to the client.
I also issue and renew supplier purchase orders, particularly for contractors and maintain client portals where engineer reports are uploaded and updated for compliance purposes.”
🔸 What do you enjoy most about your job and the work you do?
“I enjoy being able to strengthen the business’s administrative capacity, particularly through booking PPMs and maintaining accurate records. I also value the opportunity to help nurture strong relationships between the business, its clients and contractors.”
🔸 What skills or qualities do you think are most important for success in your role?
“I would say attention to detail, the ability to work well under pressure, strong time management, good communication skills and effective problem-solving are all essential for success in this role.”
🔸 What’s the best piece of professional advice you’ve ever received?
“The best advice I have received is not to be afraid of making mistakes or asking questions. Putting that advice into practice has helped me grow in leaps and bounds. It has also taught me the importance of taking ownership of my mistakes and learning from them.”
🔸 What is one personal or professional goal you’re currently working towards? – “My goal is to continue developing my expertise in the industry and, in time, grow into a leadership role.”
🔸Outside of work, what do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
“Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, going to the gym, watching sport – especially rugby – and going out for meals.”
🔸If you could have dinner with any three people, living or dead, who would you choose?
“My Dad, Trevor Noah and Patrice Motsepe.”
