Camden’s Carbon Reduction Continues – Ergro Appointed at Highgate Library

Following the enormous success of our previously delivered pioneering decarbonisation retrofit scheme at Swiss Cottage Library for Camden Council, we are very excited to announce that they have appointed Ergro once again, to undertake a similar scheme at the Grade II listed Highgate Library building in north London.

Built in 1906, the impressive Edwardian property has played an important role in the community for well over a century and it will now benefit from an extensive retrofit programme of works, which will radically improve the efficiency of the library building and reduce future carbon emissions.

As well as replacing existing boilers with air source heat pumps, we will be installing wall and roof insulation and coverings, replacing roof lights and rewiring, upgrading the ventilation system and draught lobby, carrying out window replacements and secondary glazing upgrades, and the installation of a new building energy control system and Solar PV panels on the roof.

Replacing the existing fossil fuel heating system with a low carbon heating solution, combined with the many fabric and building condition improvements, will drastically benefit the building’s efficiency, improving the impact on the local community as well as contributing to the wider national goals for a net zero future.
