As part of improvements to the electrical systems and building services within the Grade II listed, Swiss Cottage Library in London, Ergro have recently commenced an extensive lighting replacement project at the site for the London Borough of Camden.
This involves installations within the Atrium and Library, of upgraded energy efficient LED lighting in place of the original high-level lighting, along with intelligent control and within the existing diffusers due to the listed status.
To enable access to these particular fitting areas, the use of scaffold decks is necessary as all lights being upgraded were situated at a high level, however this is extremely complex due to the height and shape of the working spaces, so adaptations are made accordingly.
Whilst the scaffold decks are in place the client has utilised this access to instruct the Ergro building fabric team to fully redecorate the ceilings and columns within the areas.
The works are being carried out at night, outside of library opening hours, to respect the building’s functions and avoid any disruption. The Council are extremely pleased with the first phase which was recently completed and commissioned prior to the scaffold decks being relocated to the next areas.
